Act before the order leaves fulfillment
The best time to cancel is before the item is packed or shipped. Once a seller has begun fulfillment, the order may move too far into processing for a simple cancellation. That is why customers should check their inbox and order page as soon as they notice the mistake.
- Open the order page and confirm the current order status.
- Submit the cancellation request using the platform's available option if it is still enabled.
- Contact support with the order number if the interface does not show a cancel button.
- Keep the cancellation confirmation until the refund or reversal is complete.
Check the payment status after cancellation
A cancelled order may still show a temporary authorization, pending charge, or reversed payment while the financial system settles the transaction. That does not always mean the cancellation failed. The customer should review the card statement or payment account and wait for the marketplace or provider to finish the adjustment.
If the order already shipped
If shipping has already started, the customer may need to wait for delivery and then use the return policy. The right next step depends on whether the item is returnable, whether the package can be refused, and whether the marketplace or seller requires return approval first.
